The film takes place in a post-Ragnar era, where the gods are fading, the clans are divided, and a new threat rises from the East.Fimmel plays Erik the Forsaken, a warrior exiled from his homeland who returns after years adrift to face a prophecy written in blood and fire.
Winnick stars as Freydis the Flame, a battle-hardened seeress and chieftain determined to protect her people from an ancient power threatening to consume the Nine Realms.Their paths collide as they race to uncover the legendary Heart of Yggdrasil, a mythical relic said to hold the power of the gods themselves.
