In a surprise announcement that has delighted fans worldwide, Netflix has officially greenlit production for A Little Bit Alexis, a spinoff movie centered on everyone’s favorite socialite from Schitt’s Creek. The film will follow Alexis Rose, played by the Emmy-winning Annie Murphy, as she steps into her next chapter beyond the small town that stole viewers’ hearts.
Set several years after the events of Schitt’s Creek’s series finale, A Little Bit Alexis will chart Alexis’ journey as she launches “Alexis Rose Communications” in New York City. The film promises a hilarious and heartfelt look at Alexis trying to build her PR empire while navigating a whirlwind of relationships, celebrity scandals, and her own chaotic tendencies.
Annie Murphy will reprise her iconic role as Alexis, bringing back the character’s signature mix of ditzy charm, sharp wit, and unexpected depth. Netflix also confirmed appearances by new cast members, including rising stars who will play Alexis’ glamorous (and occasionally villainous) clients, as well as a love interest or two to complicate her plans.
Behind the camera, Dan Levy, co-creator of Schitt’s Creek, will serve as an executive producer and has penned the screenplay for the film. Levy shared his excitement in a statement: “Alexis Rose has always been one of the most unpredictable and hilarious characters I’ve had the pleasure of writing. This movie is a chance to see her shine in a whole new world.”
Fans of the original show can also look forward to special cameos: sources close to the production revealed that Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose) and Catherine O’Hara (Moira Rose) are both expected to make brief but memorable appearances. While the plot is under wraps, leaks suggest Johnny may offer business advice, and Moira could pop in for a dramatic red-carpet event.
Production on A Little Bit Alexis is slated to begin this fall in Toronto and New York City, with a planned release date on Netflix in summer 2026. The movie aims to blend the quirky humor and heartfelt moments that made Schitt’s Creek a global sensation, while giving Alexis the spotlight she deserves.
Netflix executives noted that the spinoff aligns perfectly with their focus on character-driven comedies with international appeal. “Alexis Rose is an icon of modern television, and we know audiences everywhere are eager to see what’s next for her,” a Netflix spokesperson said during the announcement event.
With its blend of high fashion, laugh-out-loud antics, and the possibility of a little bit of romance, A Little Bit Alexis looks set to become the next must-watch movie for fans of Schitt’s Creek. Stay tuned for more casting news, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and exclusive interviews as production ramps up in the coming months.
